In the last 15 years more and more male clients are seeking professional waxing services, having previously used a razor. Due to the fast hair growth cycle on the intimate area, and the nature of shaving you can experience nearly immediate hair growth. Shaving can cause ingrown hairs, rashes and, by removing the barrier of the skin it can cause long term sensitivity.

Waxing gives a lot more comfortable hair growth compared to shaving. It completely removes the hair from their roots leaving the skin smooth for many weeks.

What to Expect from My First Visit?

At your very first visit you will be asked to fill in a consultation and consent form which is compulsory for new clients. Consultation gives me information about your skin's health, if there's any medications / natural remedies taken or used on the treatment area. Some medications / supplements make the skin thinner or sensitive, easier breaks or lifts by waxing.

Top 10 Questions About Intimate Waxing

1. How long shall I leave my hair grow before appointment?

Either you shave or wax regularly, the perfect length is about 1/3 of an inch. The longer hair strokes can be fully removed. If hair is too short, it doesn't stick into the wax properly, easily can slip out of it when removed, leaving the hair behind, pulling the skin and causing more discomfort and irritation.

2. Shall I trim the hair before appointment?

Please don't. It may happen that you manage to cut it too short. Trimming can be done in the salon right before treatment if necessary.

3. Shall I exfoliate and moisturise my skin before treatment?

Moisturising helps skin be healthy and keep the skin barrier strong. Exfoliation is definitely a NO. It is a very old concept of skin care, what can thin the skin and cause sensitivity as it removes the protective barrier.

4. What type of wax is used on the intimate area?

I only use flexible, peelable so called hot wax on sensitive areas such as intimate areas and underarms. Peelable wax is much gentler to skin than strip wax. Before waxing a special oil is applied on the skin for giving an extra barrier of protection. This way intimate waxing becomes a lot more comfortable than strip wax.

5. Does intimate waxing hurt?

Well, it feels different to a relaxing hot stone massage. But you are in good hands. I use the Axiom technique, the best intimate waxing technique available, and have extensive experience in this field. And, remember, the first wax is the worst one, because there is more hair, the more you keep on top of it becomes less and less uncomfortable.

6. How much hair is removed?

It always depends on your personal preference. Some clients prefer to have done just the groin area, some chose to be completely bold.

Here are the options available:

  • Speedo line – it is a basic "bikini" wax removing the hairs outside of the speedo underwear line.
  • Groin – it removes hair from the pubic triangle, shaft, scrotum and perineum areas.
  • Brazilian – it's like the Hollywood but leaving some hair on the pubic area.
  • Hollywood – all off the front and back – as bare as the day you were born.

7. How long does intimate waxing take?

It depends on the area. The larger the size of the area the longer it takes, but never longer than maximum an hour. I've heard some horror stories from clients about 2 hours long treatments…. it's not going to happen here, not even if you're Chewbacca :D

  • Speedo line – 10 mins
  • Groin – 20 mins
  • Brazilian – 25-35 mins
  • Hollywood – 35-45 mins

8. Do I need to do anything after intimate waxing?

Yes, absolutely. Home care included to take home with you. It helps to soothe and moisturise the sensitive skin. Use of any other skin care products has to be avoided for at least 24 hours after waxing. It is vital to follow the correct home care procedure and advice given to make sure that you get the best result possible.

9. Can I go to the gym after intimate waxing?

To avoid irritation, no activities recommended for at least 24 hours what make you sweat (sweaty sports, sauna, steam room, sunbathing, sunbed) or cause friction on the freshly waxed skin.

10. How often is it recommended to have intimate waxing done?

I recommend intimate waxing every 4-6 weeks apart. After a few sessions hair growth slows down and frequency of treatment can be extended.
